The annual festival of Irish music in the North West of Ireland, takes place from 28 January - 4 February 2018. The IMBOLC International Music Festival programme features an eclectic mix of new music, intimate performance and music for all. All in inspiring locations – from churches, historic buildings to cafés and bars. The festival comprises an extensive programme of events including concerts, workshops, masterclasses, choral events, events for children, community events, session trail, band competition and much more. It features some of the world’s finest musicians from Ireland, Scotland, England, Scandinavia and Canada, with music from a wide range of genres represented, including Irish traditional, roots, world and folk. The festival starts on Sunday 28th January with a double bill with Kíla, one of Ireland’s most innovative and exciting bands and Árchú, who play a blend of post-rock and electro-acoustic sounds. Among the artists and groups appearing at the festival are Daoirí Farrell, Andreas Tophøj, Rune Barslund, The Outside Track, Duncan Chisholm, Úna Monaghan, Ryan Molloy, Dermot Dunne, Ulster Orchestra, Jarlath Henderson, Niall Hanna, Eilidh Patterson, Yvonne Lyon, Greenshine, Navá, Beoga, Codetta, Gerard McCrystal, Tim Edey and Four Men and a Dog. Alongside concerts, the festival also has an extensive programme of music and dance workshops including sean-nós and two hands dance workshops, song-writing workshops, guitar and melodeon masterclasses led by Tim Edey, and a weekend-long Band Camp for young traditional musicians. Accessibility and inclusion is central to the ethos of the festival and supporting access to music-making for as wide a range of people as possible is a vital expression of that philosophy. During the festival there will be music workshops and events for children and young people with special needs as well as music and dance workshops for older people....
