A young teenager from Australia had a Ferris Bueller's Day Off last week when he ended up on stage with Bruce Springsteen instead of being at school.

Nathan Testa was called onto Brisbane Entertainment Centre stage after Springsteen read out his hand-written poster: "Missed school, in the shit now, can I play Growin' Up with you?"

“Do you know the song? You do?” Springsteen asked from the stage. “You know it on guitar? You do? Come on up!”

Springsteen also gave the young man a lesson on how to hold the guitar saying that when he was his Testa's age he realised 'it wasn't about how well you played it; it was about how good you looked doing it'.

"Ferris Bueller, you’re my hero".
