'Chilly nights' to come but weekend forecast not that bad

Time to get the extra blanket out of the cupboard as Met Eireann predicts the overnight temperatures are set to fall.

.However, the weekend days should be mostly bright and dry.

The best of the sunny spells on Friday will be in the morning with the afternoon set to be more cloudy. There may be some short isolated showers in places.

Friday night will be clear and dry but the temperature may drop as low as 6 degrees.

Saturday will be a mainly dry day with sunny spells in the morning in the east, but cloudier with outbreaks of locally heavy rain developing along the west and southwest coasts during the afternoon, spreading east and turning heavy in places.

Winds will also increase along the west coast during the afternoon.

Sunday, although mostly cloudy with scattered outbreaks of light rain and drizzle, will be a warm day reaching 21 degrees in the sun.

The early forecast for next week is that, although it will remain humid on Monday and Tuesday, the weather will remain mixed and changeable.
