Current warm and sunny spell to mostly remain over weekend

Maybe, we are getting a little bit of an Indian summer after all.

Although being Ireland, there will always be some patches of rain around.

The forecast for the weekend is for long periods of dry weather with some scattered showers, mainly on Saturday morning.

Friday will start with sunny spells during the morning with cloud arriving from the west during the day with some drizzle in the west and north during the evening.

Saturday morning will be dull with outbreaks of rain but it will brighten up in the afternoon with sunny spells and just some scattered showers. 

Sunday is going to be the best day of the weekend and will be mainly dry in the southern half of the country with some sunny spells. It will be cloudier further north with some showers, mainly in Connacht and Ulster. 

The early indications for next week are that it will continue to be unsettled with rain and strong winds at times.
