Despite the cooler start to the weekend, temperatures to hit 21 degrees

It may not feel like it, but it is still summer.

Most of the country has experienced cooler weather over the last few days, with highs in the mid-teens.

There has also been patches of rain and very strong winds making people question what the actual season is.

However, the temperature is set to rise over the weekend with some areas hitting highs of 21 degrees on Sunday.

Saturday will be generally dry but with some rain in Munster and South Leinster in the afternoon.

Sunday will be mainly dry and most areas will also experience a noticeable increase in temperature. There will be top temperatures of 16 to 19 C generally but it will reach 21 C in the sunshine in parts of Munster and south Leinster during the afternoon.

The early forecast for next week is for the changeable weather to continue with cloud and patches of rain with periods of dry sunshine.
