Do you know of a warm-hearted boy with both academic and emotional intelligence?

Or rather, do you know of a young Irish actor you can play the part of someone with those characteristics?

Artemis Fowl, the series of science fiction books by Irish author Eoin Colfer, is finally being turned into a movie and producers issued a casting call for a young Irish actor.

The film is now set to be distributed by Disney and they are looking to cast an Irish actor of any ethnicity as the movie's star.

They are looking for someone to play the lead character, Artemis Fowl, the popular criminal genius who took on the fairy underworld in the self-titled first book

Artemis is described by the producers as being 'inquisitive and possessing both academic and emotional intelligence, Artemis is highly perceptive and good at reading people. Most importantly, Artemis is warm-hearted and has a great sense of humour; he has fun in whatever situation he is in and loves life.”

The movie is being directed by Kenneth Branagh and will cover the first two novels in the eight-book series.
