After a few weeks of wet and stormy weather, there will be some dry and sunny days to start of the week.

Met Eireann reports that a high pressure will dominate the early part of the week, but turn more unsettled and changeable as the week unfolds.

Monday will be a bright and sunny day in most places with some cloud and occasional drizzle expected on Tuesday. High temperatures will be around 17-18C.

Wednesday will be a warm day but with outbreaks of rain, heavy and persistent in the morning. The rain will turn lighter and patchier from the west during the afternoon.

Thursday will be another bright, fresh day with sunny spells and passing showers. It will be a warmer than average day with temperatures reaching 16C.

The early forecast for the weekend is for spells of changeable weather, with some rain and wind, especially in the north and west, mixed with periods of drier and brighter weather too.
