Enjoy the last of the holiday sunshine as wintry conditions to return

The kids have been very lucky so far as the weather during the Easter break has generally been good.

This period of mainly bright weather with some scattered showers is set to end with cloud and showers with occasional bright patches throughout the weekend.

However, next week it will become noticeably cooler with a return of some wintry conditions likely on high ground.

Met Eireann forecast another dry day on Friday with good sunshine across southwestern counties.

There will be a dull and damp start to Saturday with light rain in Connacht and parts of Leinster and Ulster in the morning with the rest of the day being cloudy with a few showers but occasional brighter intervals also. The best of the weather will be in the south-west where is it should be generally dry with sunny spells once the early weather clears.

Sunday will see a few bright spells and scattered showers.

Monday will be a noticeably cooler day with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers and some of the showers will become wintry in the north by evening

Tuesday will be another cold day with sunshine and scattered showers, a few of them heavy and wintry, especially on high ground.

Wednesday will be mainly dry with sunny spells.

The nights of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will be cold with temperatures falling to around zero degrees and with frost developing in many areas with periods of heavy rain on Thursday and Friday.
