Hot and dry spell to continue during week but won't last to the weekend

Enjoy it while it lasts.

Most of the country basked in hot sunshine all weekend but, while the current spell of good weather is to continue into the week, it will cool as we get closer to the weekend.

Today will be another sunny day across the country, with some cloud on the north-west coast. Top temperatures will be 25 degrees.

The weather will continue into Tuesday and Wednesday with some small isolated showers in the west and south-west on Tuesday, and more widespread thundery showers on Wednesday, as temperatures could reach as high as 26 degrees.

The weather starts to cool on Thursday with highest temperatures of 21 degrees, reducing to 18 degrees on Friday and less again over the weekend.

There will also be an increase in cloud cover with occasional patchy rain on Friday and Saturday becoming heavier on Sunday.
