This Morning viewers were shocked last week when Natasha Harding said that she leaves her nine year old son home alone "playing Playstation" for three hours while she goes out for dinner.
Ms Harding admitted on the show that the first time she left her son alone he was just five. Presenter Holly Willoughby was clearly shocked by the admission asking, "you felt he was able to cope by himself? A lot can happen in ten minutes, it doesn't sound long but a lot can go wrong."
Natasha told Holly and co-presenter Philip Schofield that she gave her son the choice to join them for dinner or stay at thom.
"Is he old enough to make that choice? If I gave my five-year-old the choice between sweets and vegetables, they're going to go sweets. I'm not sure that is the right thing for them."
Although there is no law in the UK or Ireland, children's agencies would like it to be illegal to leave any child under 16 unsupervised.
