Well, did you enjoy the summer?

People all over Ireland were basking in the early summer sun during the week but indications are that the rain that is forecast will remain into next week.

Friday will be a mostly overcast day with rain turning heavy, possibly thundery, mainly in the midlands, east and south.

Saturday morning will start dry, with sunny spells, but rain will develop across Munster and spread north-eastwards throughout the day.

Sunday will be a bright day with a mix of sunshine and showers, turning heavy during the evening.

The heavy rain will gradually clear northwards on Monday morning with an outbreak of rain in the west during the day and into Tuesday.

It will be drier in Leinster with perhaps some bright spells in the south-east.

This period of unsettled weather will continue with spells of rain or showers in all areas at times during the rest of the week.
