Met Eireann has issued two warnings as they forecast severe weather conditions on Monday night and Tuesday.

The first Status Yellow warning is for snow-ice across Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim, East Cork, Tipperary and Waterford with up to 3cm of snow fall leading to hazardous conditions on roads and footpaths.

The second Status Yellow issued this afternoon is a national warning for futher showers on Tuesday.

These showers will be most frequent in the west and north of the country leading to sllippery roads and paths due to accumulation of ice on untreated surfaces.

The outlook for the remainder of the week is a continuation of cold weather with some sleet, snow and rain showers across the country.
