Status Yellow weather warning remains in place for Dublin and Leinster

Heavy rain will continue to fall in Dublin and most of Leinster for most of today and overnight while the west of the country remains dry.

Met Eireann forecast that rain, sleet and snow will continue across parts of Leinster, Munster and east Ulster this morning, with further rain here through the afternoon.

However, the outlook in the west is much brighter and will remain dry for most of the day.

Things to do in Ireland on a rainy day

There is a Status Yellow rainfall warning for Dublin, Louth and Wicklow in place until 7am on Thursday with heavy rain at times that may lead to a risk of flooding.

Overnight, there will be more outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow in the east and south of the country.

Tomorrow, following some showery rain in the east during the morning, the weather will gradually brighten across the country and remain dry for the rest of the day.

Milder more settled weather will develop through Friday and over the weekend although it will be cold with frost in many areas during the night.
