Tayto Park has applied for planning permission to build a massive seven-story hotel on the site of its theme park and zoo in Co. Meath.

The hotel will have 250-rooms with a capacity of 1,000 guests.

The plans also include a leisure centre that will include a junior play area, family pool, jacuzzi, sauna and a steam room.

The hotel will also have three restaurants and two sky bars.

The planning application submitted yesterday shows a  design that fits with the look and feel of Tayto Park. The hotel is built from wood and sits in a parkland setting.

The company estimates that the €48 million build will employ 150 people during construction and create 272 full and part-time jobs when the development is complete.
