A mum whose son has autism was moved to tears by a wonderful letter from his teacher.

Gail Twist, from Merseyside, uploaded a photo of the letter 11-year-old Ben received after his exam results had been sent to his parents.

“In tears,” the mother wrote on Twitter.

“A letter to my 11-year-old autistic son from his school: ‘These tests only measure a little bit of you’.”

The letter stated that although the test is important there are also other important skills the school measures.

“A very important piece of information I want you to understand is that these tests only measure a little bit of your abilities.

“They are important and you have done so well, but Ben Twist is made up of many other skills and talents that we at Lansbury Bridge see and measure in other ways.”

The teacher, Mrs Clarkson listed all of Ben’s other qualities, including his artistic talents, kindness, independence, abilities in sports and music and ability to make friends.

She explained she had written to his parents to tell them the results of his tests.

He attends Lansbury Bridge School and Sports College, a school for students with special needs in St. Helens, Merseyside.

The mother’s tweet was liked nearly 5,000 times as people praise the school and the fabulous teacher Mrs. Clarkson.
