Temperature set to fall to -4 degrees this weekend

Cold weather is set to return this evening as Met Eireann warn of freezing weather over the weekend.

Today will be bright and dry with temperatures between 7 and 9 degrees. Lows of -0 to 2 degrees are forecast overnight with patches of frost and ice likely to develop.

However, although the rest of the weekend will remain bright and dry, overnight temperatures are set to fall further on Friday night, reaching -4 degrees in places on Saturday and Sunday evening.

"Current indications suggest that it will become windy by midweek, with temperatures on the rise again from midway through Monday. While the overall picture remains largely dry, there's the suggestion of some rain on the northwest coast later on Tuesday'.
