There are two Status Yellow weather warnings in place tonight

Two weather warnings are in place across five counties tonight.

First, a status yellow rainfall warning was issued for Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo from 3pm Thursday until 3pm Friday afternoon.

It is expected a spell of heavy rain will affect Mayo, west Galway, Sligo, and Leitrim, through the rest of today, tonight and tomorrow.

Met Eireann predicts a total of 25 mm with the potential for 35mm on higher ground.

A second status yellow rainfall warning was issued for Donegal where more spells of heavy rain are expected to affect the northwest of the country through today and tomorrow with the potential for 25 to 40mm to accumulate in 24 hours in from 6pm Thursday to 6pm Friday.

The current changeable and unsettled weather will continue over the weekend and at least until the middle of next week.
