A skydiving plane caught fire shortly after taking off forcing the pilot to order the thirteen onboard to parachute to safety
Out of the Blue Skydiving posted to Facebook yesterday that they believe the plane struck a bird after leaving Colorado Springs East Airport on Sunday afternoon.
"We heard a pop", Trent Reese, who was a passenger on the plane, told Colorado Springs TV station KRDO
"The pilot took a few seconds to assess the situation and he said, ‘Everybody out,' Reese said.
No injuries were reported and the pilot managed to safely land the plane with only one engine.
“It’s an unfortunate event,” Out of the Blue Skydiving co-owner John Mahan told KRDO-TV. “Everyone is safe. We are very happy everyone is accounted for.”
