A four year old girl has died in Pennsylvania after being left in a hot car all day.
A woman who was supposed to take the child to creche instead drove to work forgetting she had the little girl with her.
The girl has been named as four year old Samaria Kay Motyka from Williamsport . She was stranded in the car in 90F heat and was found unresponsive later that day when the woman returned to her car.
She was rushed to hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.
Assistant Chief Timothy Miller told the Boston Globe that while negligence may have been involved, it appears the death was a tragic accident.
He said the woman was in a relationship with the girl’s father and regularly cared for her. She is remorseful and cooperating with investigators.
Twenty three children have already died this year in the U.S. alone due to heatstroke caused by being left in cars, according to noheatstroke.org.
