Belfast Children's Festival
Belfast Children's Festival is an annual international festival for children aged 0 - 17 years and their accompanying adults. Events take place both in and out of school time for schools, groups and families to attend.
The 2018 Belfast Children's Festival is a 6 day birthday party as the festival turns 20!
Our festival theme is ‘FAMILY’, so dive into the packed programme of theatre, visual art, music, dance, literature, workshops and talks, guaranteed to inspire joy, creativity and curiosity. Many festival events sell out so book early to avoid disappointment.
Come and celebrate at our Big Botanic Birthday Bash, which will be jam-packed with fun family activities over the festival weekend, including free children’s art workshops, Northern Ireland Opera's Little Lullabies, ArtCart, drumming workshop, Sow & Grow workshops, pop-up music, dance and theatre performances such as EGG-tion Hero, and much more. Look out for illustrator Duncan Ross in the Ulster Museum on Saturday 2-4pm.
Macramé, Digital Art & Nature: You are invited to hop on the ArtCart to create beautiful macramé inspired plant hangers complete with plant pot and seeds that you can take home to nurture and grow. With guidance from a WheelWorks visual artist you will use natural materials, plants and digital designs to craft your own green creation thus bringing the outdoors in to your home. Their macrame artist will introduce basic knotting techniques using recycled materials to get everyone producing their own unique designs. Their digital artist will use drawing apps to create digital designs that will enhance your creations. This workshop is especially created with young children in mind but we encourage all ages to get involved and have fun.
There are 15 places over 3 x 45 minute workshops (1-1.45pm, 2-2.45pm & 3-3.45pm) so we recommend that participants sign up at the ArtCart on the day to ensure a place.
