Seamus Heaney HomePlace which has been described by Michael Longley as “an echo chamber for the poet’s beautiful lines”. Your visit includes access to the interactive exhibition over two floors, filled with personal stories, images and the voice of the poet himself. Explore the places of his childhood and formative years – Anahorish, Moss Bawn, Broagh, Toomebridge, Lagan’s Road – and through the sites, share the emotion of poetry – from the joy of ‘Blackberry Picking’ to the sorrow of ‘Mid Term Break’. The visit of HomeGround will also take in the splendid sights of Ballyscullion House, and will also give those in attendance a chance to pay respect at Seamus resting place at St Mary’s Parish Church, Bellaghy. Refreshments will be served in The Old Thatch Inn, Castledawson.
