Engineers Week
Ireland | Until March 8th

Family events continue into the weekend with a mix of wildlife, history and storytelling.

At Dublin Zoo on Saturday, Engineering for Elephants invites families to explore how design and innovation can help protect wildlife. In this 90-minute workshop, children aged 5 to 12 help remodel a giant habitat, create enrichment ideas for elephants and design conservation corridors inspired by Kaziranga National Park. The session also includes a visit to the zoo’s Asian elephant herd.

At EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum in Dublin, visitors can discover the stories of Irish engineers who made an impact around the world. Through storytelling sessions included with museum admission, families learn about figures such as John Philip Holland and his submarine designs, and Peter Rice, whose engineering helped shape major international buildings. The programme runs throughout the week as part of the wider Engineers Week celebrations.

Dublin Daughters
Dublin | March 8th

Mark International Women’s Day with Dublin’s Daughters, a special Kellogg’s Skyline experience on the roof of Croke Park celebrating the women who have shaped the capital. This guided rooftop tour explores the lives of some of Dublin’s most famous, infamous and admired women, all set against panoramic views across the city. From Molly Malone and Rosie Hackett to Kay Mills and other trailblazers past and present, the tour highlights the stories behind the names and the impact these women have had on Dublin’s history and identity. Suitable for ages 16 and over, tours take place at 12pm and 3pm on Sunday 8 March.

Dublin Comic Con

Dublin Comic Con returns to the Convention Centre Dublin for a packed weekend celebrating film, television, comics and gaming. Among the confirmed guests are Giancarlo Esposito, Denise Crosby, Kate Mulgrew and Anthony Daniels, alongside a wide range of comic creators, artists and cosplay talent from Ireland and abroad.

Across two days, fans can attend Q&A sessions, book photo opportunities and autographs, explore artist alley and browse merchandise stands. With family tickets available and children under five going free, it is a lively and accessible weekend event for fans of all ages.

Paw Patrol
Dublin | Sunday, March 8th

Little Paw Patrol fans can meet Chase at a special themed brunch in Kidspace Rathfarnham this Sunday from 10am to 12 noon. Designed for children up to age eight, the morning includes a sweet pancake brunch, music and movement with Chase and plenty of photo opportunities throughout the session. Seachtain na Gaeilge

Seachtain na Gaeilge, the largest Irish language festival in Ireland and around the world, runs from 1 to 17 March with community-led events celebrating Gaeilge and Irish culture. From music sessions and céilís to historical tours, workshops and family activities, the programme offers something for all ages, whether you are fluent or just curious to try a few words.

This weekend, families can enjoy Play Bricks in Castlebar Library for children aged 2 to 12, a Family Fun Day in Irish at John’s Central Library in Cavan with an interactive circus show and bilingual drumming workshop, and song workshops in Irish and English at Wexford Arts Centre. In Dublin, a guided walking tour from Richmond Barracks to Kilmainham explores the city’s revolutionary history through Irish storytelling
