A selection of fun things to do in Ireland this weekend.

Culture Night

The 13th Culture Night takes place on Friday with venues and public spaces across the island of Ireland opening their doors to host a programme of free late-night entertainment, as part of an all-island celebration of arts, heritage and culture. This year there are over 3,000 events all across the country.

In Dublin, hop on one of the FREE Dublin Bus Culture Buses to visit venues in the city including the National Museums of Ireland or a special music concert made for children and families in The Ark, Temple Bar.

In Cork, the historical Cork City Gaol building will host to the Cork Light Orchestra, who will perform music inspired by the orchestras of the 1920s and 1930s.

In Belfast, enjoy some Samba at City Hall or a BMX display down at the harbour. 

The Galway Community Circus host an afternoon of workshops in aerial yoga, hula–hooping, balancing and games. 

Ladies Football All-Ireland Finals, Croke Park

The Mayo Ladies don't have to battle a curse this weekend as they attempt to win their first All-Ireland since 2003. However, they are up against a Dublin team determined to taste victory having lost the last three finals.

Galway International Oyster Festival

The 61st festival is three days of events in the festival marquee including the National Oyster Opening (shucking) Champs, live bands, dancing, a feast of seafood delights and the World Oyster Olympics.

Dunshaughlin Harvest Festival

Dunshaughlin Harvest Festival is a fantastic annual fun-filled festival with music, drama, dance, heritage events, food & craft markets, country sports and plenty of good old-fashioned games for the children.

Boutique Brunch at Wells House

Treat yourself to brunch in the Great Dining Hall of Wells House where they are hosting a one-off culinary event this Sunday that is sure to whet your appetite.

Ballinasloe Horse and Agricultural Show

The show has been running since the early 1800s and is older than the more recognisable horse show in Dublin. A fun family day our enjoying the competitions that include prizes for InHand & Ridden Horses & Ponies, Cattle & Sheep, Poultry, Art & Vegetables.

Winterfell Festival at Castle Ward

Game of Thrones may be over for another year, but you can get your fix of all things Stark this weekend at Castle Ward.

Discover the setting of the Stark family home, see first-hand theatrical re-enactments from the fantasy TV series, meet an actor from the show, watch spectacular games unfold in a mystical landscape and enjoy lively music, local food and much more. 

Irish Hot Air Balloon Championships

The skies above Loughrea, Co. Galway will be filled with the beautiful sight of dozens of Hot Air Balloons compete in the national championships, the longest running event of its kind in the world! The spectacular launch is scheduled for 4:30 on Sunday at the Lough Rea Hotel & Spa.

Dublin Fringe Festival

The festival might conclude this weekend but there is plenty of fun to be had. Highlights include a Monster LOLS: Stand Up Comedy for Kids in Smock Alley and Birdy, a show in the Project Arts theatre about the adventures of Birdy and her quest to put together the best band in the world.

The Celtic Fringe Festival

A unique festival in Sligo to remember the fascinating story of the ill-fated Spanish Armada voyage of 1588 through the medium of music, song, dance and a fun BBQ and entertainment in a pop-up Spanish Quarter in Grange and a commemorative event at the wreck-site on Streedagh Strand on Sunday.

An Creagán Autumn Arts Festival

A weekend celebration of arts, crafts, workshops, culture and all things creative. All events are FREE and open to everyone. Throughout the festival, an exhibition of local artwork and photography will be on display. All events are free and no booking is required.

Atlantic AirVenture Open Day

Attention, Aviation fans! The Buccaneer Aviation Group from Bruntingthorpe arrive to operate XX897 for the 1st Annual Buccaneer Wing Swing Day on Sunday at Atlantic AirVenure in Shannon, the Modelling Munster IPMS Ireland will have a great display of model aircraft on show, Shannon Airport Plane Spotters will also be on site with a fantastic collection of their photographs along with Clare Classic and Vintage Car Club with their beautiful collection on display and lots more.
