Dublin Zoo is the largest zoo in Ireland and one of Dublin's most popular attractions. It has been open since 1831 and, like most zoo's around the world, now concentrates on conservation and education. Located in the Phoenix Park in the heart of Dublin city, Dublin Zoo is one of Ireland’s most popular family attractions. It has been transformed in recent decades into a 28 hectare park of gardens, lakes and wonderful natural habitats for over 400 animals. The site is huge and allows the animals plenty of room to roam. It is divided into different areas; Family Farm, Kaziranga Forest Tail, Gorilla Rainforest, House of Reptiles, the Penguin Habitat, Asian Forests and South American House. With the exception of the African Savanna, where you can see zebra, giraffs, rhino's and chimps, there is not much distance between them and it is easy to walk around with a stroller.
