Spacefest

Macnas debut in Cork for SpaceFest
SpaceFest launches this weekend, 8–9 November, bringing an out-of-this-world mix of art, science and spectacle to venues across Cork city and county. The festival opens with exhibitions, workshops and experiments at locations including Marina Market, Blackrock Castle Observatory, The Liberty, Greywood Arts and UCC.
On Sunday 9 November, Galway’s celebrated spectacle group Macnas make their Cork debut at Marina Market with a vibrant performance featuring drummers, stilt walkers and giant puppets telling the story of Ireland’s vanishing corncrake.
The Macnas moon installation will remain on display as part of Lunar Distance, while Beyond the Visible at Blackrock Castle Observatory the same evening offers a cosmic blend of astronomy, art and cocktails. SpaceFest continues through the week with creative events like Taking Up Space on Wednesday 12 November and culminates the following weekend, 14–16 November, with Space Twist at The Liberty — a late-night mix of music, dance and intergalactic visuals.
