The Glenties Harvest Fair Festival returns with two weekends of music, tradition and family fun from 5th to 14th September. Opening weekend begins on Friday 5th with the Harvest Retro Rave in the Highlands Hotel, hosted by DJ Keith Fletcher. Across the road, the annual darts competition takes place in Leo’s Bar. Saturday morning offers outdoor adventure with a surf session for ages 8–16 and a guided hike to the WW2 plane crash site. In the afternoon, families can enjoy a kids treasure hunt from 2pm and quad reversing at Glen Farm Supplies from 4pm. Sunday features the Harvest Fair Cycle with three scenic routes, followed by the popular Kids Tractor Run at 12pm. The final weekend brings a return to tradition. Friday 12th is Traditional Fair Day, when the streets fill with market stalls, craft displays, a sheep mart and shearing demos. Live music and dancing continue into the night with acts from Ireland and Scotland. Saturday includes the Patsy Furey U13 tournament and a pool competition, with a Kids Fun Day from 3pm. That evening, the marquee hosts Bjorn Identity, Ireland’s top ABBA tribute, with support from a Shania Twain tribute. The Queen Harvest Fair Dance follows in the Highlands Hotel with DJ Dave Duke. The festival wraps up on Sunday 14th with music and entertainment from 3pm. Highlights include a jiving competition, a colourful float parade at 4pm and a community tug of war at 5pm.
