The International Literature Festival Dublin returns to Merrion Square Park this May, bringing ten days of storytelling, live performances, discussions and creative events to the city centre. With more than 215 events taking place across the festival, the programme includes literature, poetry, music, film, workshops and outdoor performances featuring writers and artists from over 27 countries.
A strong family programme runs throughout the festival, with more than 50 events for children and young readers taking place across the ten days. Families can enjoy storytelling sessions, comic-making workshops, draw-alongs, music performances and interactive events with writers and illustrators from Ireland and abroad.
Highlights for younger audiences include Aoife Dooley’s Shrimply the Best, Philip Ardagh and The Sunny Town Bunnies, Alan Windram’s Fantastic Feline Frolics and creative workshops with Sheena Dempsey, Sarah Bowie and Jim Smith. Children can also take part in poetry walks, art activities and fantasy-themed events inspired by myths, storytelling and adventure.
Alongside the family programme, the festival also features talks, literary discussions, walks, yoga sessions, film screenings, live music and spoken word performances across Merrion Square throughout the festival.
