    More details

We are delighted to welcome you to Airfield Estate, Dundrum….Dublin’s only 38 acre working farm which is open to the public all year round.

On the estate you will find many attractions including:

Heritage Experience

Originally owned by the Overend family, the heritage experience explains who they were, but more importantly what they were.  Pioneering, adventurous, caring, driven, visionary and inspiring.

The Farm

We’ve got chickens, goats, donkeys, Jersey cows, sheep and a beautiful Connemara Pony to name a few.  The farm also produces meat, milk and eggs daily to Overends Restaurant.

The Gardens

Our gardens aim to be both pretty and productive throughout the year.  They integrate areas for relaxation and recreation whilst also supplying Overends Restaurant with seasonal vegetables, herbs, fruit and flowers.

The Vintage Car Garage

Home to the Overends personal cars including Letitia’s 1927 Rolls Royce, Naomi’s prized Austin Tickford and their mum’s little Peugeot Quadrilette.

Naturescape

The adventure outdoor playground for 4-12 year old kids.  We’ve a 27 metre zip wire, climbing structures, balance beams, slide and pendulum swing.

The Grey Barn

An interactive indoor/outdoor play space for 0-4 year old children.

Woodland Walk

During the redevelopment of Airfield Estate in 2013, we planted over 2,000 native varieties of trees in the woodland area.

Overends Restaurant

Open daily and using much of the estate’s produce on the menu, this is a real field to fork food experience not to be missed.

Airfield Estate is a charitable organization established by Letitia and Naomi Overend in 1974. All of our activities are self-funded and we therefore rely fully on your support to ensure our unique amenity continues to live on as a resource for your enjoyment and that of future generations.

Open daily from 9.30am to 5pm. (Late admission in the summer months)

How to get here

Airfield Estate is located just off the M50 at junction 13 then follow the R825 to Overend Way.  Complimentary car parking is available for all visitors and we also have allocated parking for coaches.

Public transport also serves the estate with the Luas green line (Balally stop) being a short 5 minute walk to Airfield and Dublin Bus for the following buses - 11, 14, 14C, 44, 44B, 75 and 116

Horned melons, electric daisy and exploding cucumbers are not the first crops that spring to mind when you think of Airfield's garden produce.
However these are just some of the more unusual crops that we're currently harvesting from our polytunnels.
The added warmth provided by these protected structures enable us to grow tropical crops that otherwise would not flourish in our less than tropical climate!
Sweet potatoes, giant chilies and strawberry popcorn are the next unusual crops ready for harvest, so keep an eye out in Overends Restaurant for a chance to taste some of these tropical treats. #airfieldestate

What can I say, Airfield is like a little piece of heaven in the middle of busy Dundrum. It's easy to get to and parking is free. The gardens are stupendous-there are enormous trees for little ones to climb; stunning flowers, a fab kitchen garden and of course lots of animals. We did a tour of the house which is really interesting and I have to mention the lawn games and play area- kids loved them!! We ate in the restaurant - food is very good (all from the farm I believe) If you fancy a tranquil few hours with room for the kids to run and play, then this is the place for you- recommended
